This is a birthday gift for my Spiderman obsessed grandson who is 6. My first grandson got his a couple of years ago and wears his all the time.
Requires an app.
Great to track activity and chores.
Waterproof too unless your kid is a deep sea diver.

The watch is so much simpler than most which is perfect for a kid. My daughter loves that she can achieve goals through the day as she reached certain activity milestones. She is rewarded with awards when she gets to certain amounts of steps etc. The app that you pair with it is easy to use and connect. For the price, go with this over an unknown brand, the quality it good and there are a million different wristbands you can get for it.

My grandsons love the watch. My daughter set it up so her boys do chores and get points. They have learned to tell time and never remove the watch. It also stays on when in pool and any swimming activities. Well worth the price.

UPDATE:
I found out after communicating with the Garmin customer service that the battery the watch comes with start after it gets assembled so while sitting in a warehouse or store shelf it’s wasting battery. I was told the watch I bought in July was produced back in December so it totally makes sense that it died at the end of November because it’s been a year since… and that made total sense…
While I do believe they do need to improve how the watch is packaged up like including an extra battery to replace so you are guaranteed a full battery life of 1 year, the solution was the replacement of the battery… I just ordered a 5 battery pack on Amazon for around $5 and switching it out was super easy… the black console pops out since the band is made out of silicon for this purpose. Unscrew some screws and you have an access to the battery… I did that and the watch came back to life!!!
So if you already have this watch but died a year after and thinking about having to buy a whole new watch, you know you don’t have to do that! 🙂
I will update as I’m waiting to hear back from Garmin regarding the issue we are having…
My daughter loves this watch and have it on her wrist everyday and it was working wonderfully for 4 months but one day we are walking our dogs and she had hit her activity goal the watch gave her a notification celebrating she completed her goal but the the goal screen would not go away and kept flashing… the only button the watch comes with was not responding and trying to sync the problem away using the app did not work so I sent Garmin an email… the next morning I looked at the watch and the screen has gone black and dead, it won’t turn on even when I push the button.
I get the email from Garmin support but she suggests I remove the battery in the back to see if it will resets but I do not see any opening to get to the “battery” and I’m pretty sure she is not paying attention to which watch I’m contacting about…
So I reply back and tell her I don’t see a way to get to the battery and also attached some pictures of the watch so she can see I can’t open this watch up to take out the battery and this is where we are at…
I really liked the idea of not having to charge the watch for a year but then this kind of problem happens and if the Garmin customer service is a pain to deal with then this is not worth the money or time… my daughter can’t track her activity and who knows how long it will take until we can get a replacement so she can enjoy the watch again…
Will keep you posted.

We bought this item for our 5 year old sons birthday. We have the star wars version of this watch for our 7 year old son and he has had it for over a year and still loves it. Unfortunately, after only 29 days, this spiderman model broke. The screen just went black for no reason. I contacted Garmin and within 10 minutes of chatting, they had a replacement on its way. We were pleasantly surprised by the excellent customer service.
Things we like about this watch:
– Chore incentives are great.
– Our boys can start “toe to toe” challenges that keep them active and having fun.
– I can set reminders for my son while he is at school. For example, I was going to pick him up 30 minutes later on a Tuesday so, the night before, I was able to set a reminder on his watch so he didn’t forget.
– They can wear it while they swim.
– The sleep tracking is pretty spot on.
– Overall, this watch keeps my boys moving and having fun and it has been great product for them. The battery life on my 7 year old sons watch lasted almost one year exactly to the date. Battery replacement was easy and it is still going strong.
Things that could be better:
-The ability to add reminders to the watch when you don’t physically have the watch nearby so you don’t have to “sync” the watch after each change.
-GPS tracking would be great to watch kids get to/from school safely.
-The ability to have both watches on one smart phone. For example, my husband keeps my oldest sons app on his phone and I keep our younger sons on mine. In order to see my older sons app, I have to re-sync it to my phone, which kicks my younger sons app off until I re-sync it. Having the ability to have multiple watches on one device would be really helpful.

Both my boys have this watch/step tracker – at 5 and 10 years old. They love tracking their steps for “step competitions” with Mom and Dad, and I really like the chore/rewards system. The ability to set multiple alarms have helped to remind the kids to get ready for school, unpack their lunchboxes after school, and get ready for bed. The watch band breaks easily at the holes so I ordered some stretchy replacement ones instead, which work well. The first one for my oldest died after a few years and it was worth buying a new one to replace it. I actually like the small form of this model better than the new one, so purchased this for my youngest.

I got this for my son when he turned 8- he’s’ had it for nearly a year now and it works great! The app on my phone is easy to use and pairs well to the watch. The battery just died. THE BATTERY IS REPLACEABLE! I read reviews before I bought it saying the battery was not replaceable- it is. You just pop the screen out of the band and unscrew the back- easy! My son has ADHD so we rely on the watch to keep track of time, use timers for tasks and I’ve set several alarms to go off throughout the day to keep him on track with various tasks. The band is pretty big for him- he’s a fairly small kid- he has it on the smallest setting so it will definitely last him for years! I wear a M/L apple watch band (tightened to on the smaller side) and this watch band fits me fine with room to spare! Totally worth the investment!
